North East Surrey Crematorium

CoronaVirus: Updated 15th July 2021

From Monday 19th July our chapel seating will return to full capacity (80) and the use of the TV screen and speakers in the front entrance will be back in use.

Government advise is that it is "expected and recommended" that people should wear face coverings (unless exempt) in crowded public settings. As our chapel is small and it is not possible to keep doors open to allow additional ventilation, we would suggest that face coverings continue to be worn in chapel, especially when mixing with people outside of your normal social circle. This will assist with the personal safety of people attending services, especially the elderly and vulnerable.

Hand sanitizer will remain in place at the entrance to chapel and we would ask that all attendees going into the chapel use this before entering.

It is still a legal requirement that people testing positive for Covid-19 must self-isolate and should not attend services.

The following limitations remain in place:

  • At Battersea New (Morden) cemetery the rear gate is open and should only be used by people attending services or visiting loved ones in the grounds.
  • Cycles, skates or the like or any sporting activities including daily exercise is not permitted
  • Picnics or the consumption of alcohol or the use of drugs is not permitted
  • You must not visit if you feel unwell or if you are self isolating.
  • The public toilet facilities will not be available to visitors at weekends.
  • Please do not approach staff, grave diggers or grounds people. Please let them carry out their work in safety. Please contact the office with any enquiry.

Normal cemetery regulations continue to apply and must be adhered to.

As you are aware, we are in unprecedented times, and therefore have had to make necessary changes to our facilities to ensure that we follow Government guidance on limiting the spread of Coronavirus.

We are taking the necessary steps to keep our communities safe.
